Midpoint Music Fest--oh, yes!

What a great weekend! It all began Wednesday, when I drove downtown for the Midpoint Music Fest CD Release Party. I was very disappointed to find that Rachel Sage had cancelled. Bummer.

I headed back down on Friday to hear several panels and got to hear Art Alexakis from Everclear do some acoustic songs and give a keynote address. He's a funny guy.

Went to dinner at the Barrelhouse with the rest of my band and Blake and Paula from HF Productions. We found Marc Betts from Montgomery Greene hanging out there waiting for the rest of his gang to arrive so he joined us. Fortunately, we got to hear the sound check for Michaelangelo (NY) before we went to Neon's. James and I also stopped by the Cavern for a minute to say hello to our friends from Columbus, Stepford Five.

Apparently, Lori Wyatt and her band had other things to do and didn't show up so Patrice and I were able to do some Pale Beneath the Blue tunes before my band, A Pretty War, hit the stage. Guitarist, Steve Van Etten, had a legion of fans from his days of recording punk bands in his basement--they were screaming his praises all night. I broke out the Daisy Rock guitar and I must say, I'm pretty sure that we officially ROCKED! A big thanks to Dale, Jeans and Garry for all the photos.

After our show, I stuck around to hear a little of Shawna Snyder (wow!) and Whitney Barricklow (awesome), and Flutter (I think I liked it). Ran into Shiv (woxy.com ) and one of the guys he was with carried me 3 blocks to see fellow Daytonian, Dress Code. They didn't have the place set up for dancing so I eventually left. I don't know what happened after that until I ran into Shiv again at Emily Strands show at the Barrelhouse. A good time was had by all.

We finished the evening by eating pizza at the Pizza Window on 12th with Whitney B, Mark and producer, Ken Lewis. Never a dull moment.

More tomorrow--
Rhonda

2nmc

Wow...still that's all I can say. My brain hit warped speed on Thursday at 6p and hasn't slowed down yet. For all you other artists out there, whether you paint, write or make lint pictures--I highly recommend spending at least several days a year with your peers. There is strength in numbers for lack of a better way to explain it.

I met so many cool individuals--several of which will be having a mini 2nmc reunion with me at the Austin Grill in Silver Springs, MD next week.

I'm supposed to head to Pittsburgh tonite with Canal Street Tavern's own, Kim. We've been trying to see the Pushstars for a while now and this is the only date on my schedule that's free. However, I'm exhausted. Maybe I'll call Chris Trapper and see if he and the boys will do a couple of dates with us instead. I'll keep you posted...
